We've purchased these for our own tree, it's great having so many memories shared during the season, brightening up our trees with Love and joy.

Halloween and social distancing

Have a wonderful Fall and Halloween

I love fall, and Halloween is a fun part of the fall season. This year we have quarantine and I am sure many towns around the US. will not allow trick or treating, I was thinking how can we make Halloween fun for everyone adults unable to party and kids not trick or treating.

Most towns allow you to ride around in cars some ideas would be drive-thru give out candy maybe town give them some candy to do so drive by candy grabs baggy candy tree you can just take the bag off pole or tree. and it monitored to keep safe.

contests on house decorating with neighbors driving by and voting must be from county to vote have all different Catagories kids vote as well.

Catagories could include

scariest

best lights

funniest

best home crafts DYI decorated

best animatronics

most fun

pumpkin carving contest send pictures online or drive by contest

have a street party with costumes but stay in own yards BBQ have cake balloons pumpkin carving contests make scarecrows have a contest with those and with costumes if like scary music and dancing in your yard pet costume contest and so on you can use your imagination so many ways to social distance and still have Halloween fun.

Save or earn money baking soda so many uses

1-put in fridge and freezer for odors
2-cleaning floors and dishes half cup to water bucket
3-clothes half cup with detergent
4-Silver-add 3 parts baking soda 1 part water and cloth to clean and shine silver
5-Teethe-clean and freshen teeth make tooth paste with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide you can also use a teaspoon in water as rinse ,
6-freshen carpets sprinkle, let sit 15 minutes or so then vacuum, same on furniture and car.
7-cleaning greasy and sticky surfaces, sprinkle on serface (microwave, stoves, counters) and use wet cloth to scrub.
8-oil and grease spills in garage sprinkle on spot then scrub up with wet brush
9-deodorizer, you can put non-spill boxes in refrigerators, lunch boxes, coolers. You can sprinkle in the bottom of trash bins. When done with old boxes I use in my toilet as cleaner or sink garbage disposal.  You can run in dishwasher as well.
10-Antacid, Mom used a tablespoon in a cup of water for upset stomach
11-clean bathroom items like combs and brushes in a glass, or dental items in a glass, soak in baking soda and water
12-baths and foot soak, just sprinkle half cup in bath water or 1/4 cup in foot tub
13-soothe itching, I had a medication rash and I filled tub but before getting in I made a baking soda paste for the infected area, as the tub filled and added more to the water, like a cup. The water was cool, not cold, it helped so much. You can make a paste with 1 part soda and 3 parts water I re-applied paste when I got out.  Be sure to see a doctor with any heated and medication type rash. You can use on bug bites and chicken pox and also bee stings.
14-you can use in Litter boxes to reduce the smell
15-smelly sneakers, sprinkle some in at night and then empty before wearing.

18-kitchen fire Extinguisher
19-put a box in closets
20-clean kids toys, pet toys, or pillows, just sprinkle, let it sit like 15 minutes, then brush off

saving or making money 2 medicine cabnet items more purposes.

Peroxide, rubbing alcohol, and Vic's vapor rub -All three come in generic, and all three have more uses than advertised on the container.

Vics vapor rub

  1. to clear sinuses
  2. can act like Heat or aspercream. It soothes muscle aches and cramping
  3. softens skin
  4. tooth aches. Rub not in the mouth, but near the area on the outside of your cheeks. Be sure to see a dentist soon. I had a very bad tooth ache and ibuprofen helped some, but when I added Vics to my face near the ache and slept on that side keeping my cheek pressed against the tooth, it allowed me less pain to get sleep.
  5. stops itching of bug bites and can keep bugs away
  6. smell can keep cats from scratching furniture.

Peroxide
  1. cleans cuts
  2. helps with toenail fungus
  3. helps to clear achene
  4. earwax remover
  5. helps get rid of germs, nothing is perfect for getting rid of germs, but peroxide is one of the best, wipe doorknobs, kitchen counters, hard surface items and handles, toilet seats, etc.
  6. tooth paste, make a paste with baking soda 1 part soda 3 parts peroxide
  7. cleans blood, baby or pet urine from fabric and furniture. It will bubble as it works, rub with white cloth, you may need to try a few times until completely gone. You can also use a cup in place of bleach for whites in your laundry.
  8. a teaspoon in a spray bottle of water will help your house plants look great.

Rubbing Alcohol
  1. de-icer for car windows
  2. mirror and glass cleaner
  3. drys up cold soars
  4. relives itch from bug bites
  5. Nail polish remover
  6. pierced ear cleaner
  7. get rid of ring around the collar by using on neck before dressing shouldn't use often though can cause dryness of the skin.
  8. remove sticky sticker stuff if you are trying to save a jar, or have that holiday gift with sticky where the price tag was
  9. ink stain remover
  10. Ice packs - 1part rubbing alcohol  2 parts water in zip lock freezer bag
  11. De-Greaser, great for wiping down stoves microwaves and such

Saving or making money 1 pet toys

Pets love homemade toys. Believe it or not, your pet doesn't look for the best toy on the market, they don't watch commercials, nope. Unlike children, they don't see all those toys advertised during the holidays. Here are some great ideas for toys that your pets love. My pets over the years actually play more with homemade toys than store-bought. a great place in your life to same some money.

First cat toys
Paper or a ping pong ball - Believe it or not, your kitty can have hours of fun with this. Simply take a large piece of paper, crumple it into a ball and throw it.

String toys - Attach a feather to a piece of string or use a fishing pole with fun creative lures at the end, such as bells or lights. Or take a child's sock filled with more socks with holes that you might throw away. Add catnip and you have a throw toy like those mice you buy in the store; you can even draw a face and whiskers and tie yarn on for tail.

Bag toys - Never use a plastic bag for these homemade cat toys, but instead use a large paper bag from a supermarket or department store. You can also do this with a cardboard box, just be sure to remove all staples and tape.

Box toy - Take a box, not too big, but that your cat can sleep in, put it on it's side make 2 holes on top and put one end of some string through one hole and other through the other hole and add a feather to one and a bell or something to the other.

Dog toys
Any old stuff toys, no buttons or pull off eyes on them, please.

How about a knotted rope?

Take an old shirt you might throw away and draw a bone about a foot long, cut it out and then trace to make another. Sew the two pieces together and fill with socks or pieces of the shirt.

Socks?!?!?! Did I hear socks?!?! Stuff socks inside another sock and put a knot in the end.

How about tennis balls or find good strong sticks for fetch.

After the rain

I often will complain of the rain but then I think of the magic in my own back yard created in part by the rain it cheers me. I enjoy taking photos so once the rain stops I will go outside many times trucking through the tall grass that needs mowing and I haven't been able to because of the rain. I will take photos of the flowers trees that might be growing or going on in the grass like the bugs hopping and flying about.

I am not an expert photographer and will never claim to be but I enjoy taking photos creating memories no matter what they are and I love nature and all its magic. Look a fairy resting seat in the middle of my lawn a bright beautiful rose glimmering in my garden all making me smile after the rain. here are a few images of my after the rain experiences.

all images already copyright by me Lisa Roy thanks for looking have a wonderful day.

Dog treats

Barnaby loves these
This is the one I use most (peanut butter pumpkin treats)

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin
3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a
small bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, salt, and cinnamon; set aside.
In a separate large bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter until combined. Using a rubber spatula mix in the flour mixture until combined.
Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick rectangle. Cut the mixture using a canine-themed cookie cutter and place on a prepared cookie sheet. Bake for15 min for small ones and  35 to 40 minutes for larger. Remove to cooling racks and let cool thoroughly about 2 hours. They will harden as they cool.

Cut worms and tomatoe plants

I have been gardening since I was a child. The best lessons came from Mom. Here is one I recall, cutworms and tomatoes.

Cutworms love to feed on stems and buds of plants mostly. I use mom's method on my tomato and pepper plants.
What we did was using cups with bottoms cut out we took our tomatoes (we started inside) dug a hole a couple inches wide and inch and half deep
placed cup in the soil allowed for a 1/4 inch of cup above ground then filled hole with water, and then tomato plant, filled with soil, watered again. You can buy cuffs for the plants today but it is still just as easy to make them, it is cheaper and recycling is always great.
Here are some items you can use.

-Start saving those Paper towel rolls or TP rolls
-empty soup can (take the bottom off)
-cardboard curled to cup
-milk carton

-or wrap plant with paper or newspaper
-aluminum foil

Recycling yup I am smiling :)

Gardening is just one more way that I feel mom is with me I think of her when working in, gazing at, sharing and picking veggies from my garden.
