It is national dog day

It is national dog day so I thought I would dedicate a little post to my boys today.

So ok an up date, our cocker spaniel Sandy is getting older he is slower but still likes to chase his ball and lights around, we are constantly still working at his skin condition we are using  a Antiparasitic and Antiseborrheic medicated shampoo. He sleeps with our younger basset out in  the sun on the deck, but hates when he wants to play and will growl at him or us to stop the bassets hyper play just like an older person yelling to that teen "turn that music down".

Our basset Barnaby still keeps us on our toes playing a lot and trying to get stuff from counters and other high places, He barks at the birds and squirrels. and loves to cuddle and keep warm.

I love my dogs like many people I feel they are family members.

I think Dogs help to reduce stress
I think Dogs are great listeners to all our problems
I think Dogs are great for mental health
I think they are some of the best friends yo could ever have.

Dogs love unconditionally they protect and care about you in the only ways they can when ever I was sick my old dog Tipper who went to the rainbow bridge last year would cuddle up next to me now barnaby our basset seems to have taken on that roll. I thank them for all they do with love and care I hope they are as happy as they make me. thank you my loves.

Making dog treats for my boys

Best dog treat recipe I have found my dogs love them making them now I make them once a week
Just wanted to keep in a note give it a try I bet your dogs will love them.

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin
3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In small bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, salt, and cinnamon; set aside.
In a separate large bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter until combined. Using a rubber spatula mix in the flour mixture until combined.
Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick rectangle. Cut mixture using a canine-themed cookie cutter and place on a prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove to cooling racks and let cool thoroughly, about 2 hours. They will harden as they cool.

  1. They're so sweet Lisa. We had a black Cocker Spaniel years ago, and she had problems with her skin too. We did everything we could find and that our vet recommended, but to no avail. The day she left this world she still had trouble, but we loved her and did everything we could for her until then. It must be a something that particularly affects the breed. I love your photos, and I enjoy your dogs, Thanks for sharing them.
